Virat Kohli scored his maiden double century in tests against West Indies in the ongoing first test match. He had a brilliant partnership with R Ashwin with the pair adding 168 runs between them and Ashwin went on to complete his test century , his third against the West Indies. 1 Wasim Akram

The Pakistani legend is known for giving batsmen nightmares with his swing bowling but only a few might know that Akram was handy with the bat as well. He scored 3 test centuries in his career including a career best of 257 against Zimbabwe which happens to be higher Sachin Tendulkar’s best test score of 248. The current Pakistani batting line up will probably accept Akram with open hands.

2 Anil Kumble

Former captain and current coach , Anil “Jumbo” Kumble scored his one and only test century against England in 2007 scoring 110 and helped India finish with 664 on the board. It was only century by an Indian in that series and Kumble is the only player ever to have taken all 10 wickets in an innings and score a test hundred. A record which will possibly stay with him forever.

3 Jason Gillespie

Jason Gillespie’s exploits with the bat raised everyone’s eyebrows when he scored a double century against Bangladesh in 2004. Gillespie came in as a nightwatchmen and went on to score 201. This is probably one of the most memorable innings from any bowler across all the teams.

4 Chaminda Vaas

Chaminda Vaas scored his only test century against England in June 2007 scoring 100 not out and guiding Sri Lanka to a score of 577-6. This occurred in Vaas’s 97th test match which at that time was a record for the number of tests played to score a century. Anil Kumble now proudly holds that record with 118 tests.

5 Mitchell Johnson

Mitchell Johnson scored his maiden test century against South Africa in 2009 , with Australia almost defeated , Johnson went on to score 123 runs in just 66 balls showcasing his batting abilities. Although Australia went on to lose that game, Johnson’s innings is still fresh in the memory of cricket fans.
