Brazil Vs Argentina Head to Head Record and Stats: Bra vs Arg h2h | 2019 Copa America

As Brazil takes on Argentina, we shall look at the head-to-head statistics between these two sides in the Copa America.

Brazil and Argentina will face off at Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto, Minas Gerais. Only Argentina were able to win the game in normal time, whereas other games went down to the penalty shootout in the Quarterfinals.

Qualifying to the knockout stages have not been a conundrum for Argentina, but they have struggled in the latter stages of the tournament. They lost to Chile in the back-to-back final in 2015 and 2016. On the other hand, Brazil, lastly featured in 2007 final, when they lifted the trophy. They have even failed to qualify for the Semifinals in the last three editions.

Argentine were put in a group which consisted of Japan, Qatar, and Colombia. Lionel Messi’s side somehow squandered with four points to the knockout stages. They looked convincing in their 2-0 victory against Venezuela. Striker Lautaro Martinez is on song, making it life easier for Argentina in the final third. Sergio Aguero has looked in and out, whereas, the rest of the team have failed to match their expectations.

Brazil were convincing – collecting seven points in the group stages. However, they were not able to dissect Paraguay’s defence, despite playing against ten men for over half an hour in the second half. In fact, the Selecao were not at their best against Bolivia and Venezuela during their opening two games of the Copa America. With a slight tactical change, they blew away Peru in the succeeding game. What happened in the next game would not have pleased Tite, but they will be hoping to overcome their fierce rivals.

Given the resurgence of the Argentine forward line, with Lautaro Martinez playing a huge role, Brazil defence should stay on the feet. Opponents have struggled to break down the sturdy Selecao defence, who have not conceded a goal in this tournament. At the other side, it’s quite the opposite for Argentina as they are solely dependent on the forward line.

We shall look at the head-to-head statistics between Brazil and Argentina.

Brazil Vs Argentina Head-to-Head Statistics

Total number of matches played: 32

Matches won by Brazil: 10

Matches won by Argentina: 16

Games drawn: 6

Recent Form

Brazil have been immaculate since their World Cup exit in Russia last year. They have barely conceded goals, which is the major reason for the results falling in the place. Tite will be largely disappointing for their display against Paraguay last game, but he is aware of the quality at stake. Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, and Gabriel Jesus have the ability to run over Argentina’s defence.

Argentina have been largely dependent on the duo of Sergio Aguero and Lautaro Martinez. Lionel Messi has been poor, whereas, the whole backline is not as good as Brazil’s. The hosts have the tendency to revolve the ball around their team because of their superiority to keep the ball. While, Argentina are more dependent on counter attacks to exploit the opponent’s defence.
