BREAKING NEWS : Shashank Manohar steps down as ICC Chairman

Just after eight months into his reign at the ICC Chairman, Shashank Manohar steps down as ICC Chairman citing personal reasons.

He addressed a letter to the Chief Executive of ICC David Richardson in which he said, ”

I have tried to do my best and have tried to be fair and impartial in deciding matters in the functioning of the Board and in matters related to Member Boards along with the able support of all Directors.”

I take this opportunity to thank all the Directors, the Management and staff of ICC for supporting me wholeheartedly. I wish ICC all the very best and hope it achieves greater heights in future.”

The next step for the ICC will be to appoint an interim Chairman of the board while a new candidate is appointed. (Shashank Manohar steps down as ICC Chairman )The new candidate will be named after an election is completed. As Shashank Manohar steps down as ICC Chairman , speculation will be rife regarding his next post and why did he step down in the first place.

According to the ICC constitution, “In the event that the Chairman shall, for any reason, be unable to fulfil or continue to fulfil his duties, then the Executive Board shall appoint an acting Chairman from within the Executive Board to assume such duties until the conclusion of the next Conference at which a new Chairman is elected or, if sooner, upon the existing Chairman being able to fulfil or continue to fulfil his duties.”
