2023 Met Gala: Anne Hathaway Admits She's a "Huge F1 Fan" After Daniel Ricciardo Photobombs Her

Daniel Ricciardo made his first appearance in the world of high fashion. The Red Bull reserve driver debuted at the renowned Met Gala 2023 along with the likes of Hollywood celebrities, models, pop stars, and TV personalities.

However, the Aussie was spotted meandering around aimlessly before the photoshoots at the entrance. Images from the internet reveal the driver accidentally photobombed Anne Hathaway’s pictures.

Nevertheless, Hollywood welcomed Ricciardo’s intrusion into her frame. The actress even chatted with the former McLaren driver revealing that she too is an F1 fan.

Anne Hathaway reveals she is an F1 fan

In the absence of F1’s fashion icon Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo represented the sport at the 2023 Met Gala. The Aussie’s distinguished wide smile was quickly identified by ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress Anne Hathaway.

Hathaway spotted Ricciardo who was right behind her. The two had a small chat and Danny Ric even complimented the actress on her look. The ‘Interstellar’ actress thanked him and told the racer, “Wow, I’m such a huge fan of F1!” A Twitter user, ‘ahmed_baokbah’ shared a video of their interaction.

F1’s popularity has been booming in the US since Netflix aired ‘Drive To Survive.’ With Hathaway confirming that she too is a sports fan, it shows how much F1’s fan base has broadened, especially since Liberty Media’s takeover of Formula 1.

What was Daniel Ricciardo wearing at the 2023 Met Gala?

After being released by McLaren at the end of 2022, Ricciardo took a year off from racing. He joined his former team Red Bull as a reserve driver for the season. The driver will mostly do sim runs for the team and occasionally some marketing demos.

The Aussie has enjoyed his break from F1 and has made an appearance at the 2023 Met Gala. The Perth native got to rub shoulders with the likes of Kim Kardashian,  Jimin from BTS, Cardi B, Idris Alba, Lady Gaga, Roger Federer, and a host of other celebs.

The theme for this year’s gala was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” paying homage to the German designer who passed away in 2019. Ricciardo also chose his look for the night accordingly. According to GQ, the 8-GP winner wore a signature Thom Brown three-piece suit with embellishments.

Many fans have missed the 33-year-old because he isn’t on the 2023 grid. Ricciardo claimed he lacked confidence after his failed stints at McLaren and Renault. The Aussie claims he has felt positive after doing simulation work for Red Bull and rekindling his friendship with old faces at Red Bull. The Aussie claims the break from racing has helped him, but he hopes to return to the F1 grid in 2024.
