Gambhir finally makes a return:
After being out of the team for the last 2 years, Indian Opener Gautam Gambhir has been recalled to the Indian Cricket Team. He will be a part of the squad for the remaining two matches of the ongoing 3 match series against the visiting Kiwis.

Will he play?
The opener from Delhi will be replacing KL Rahul who was ruled out after an injury in his right hamstring. Rahul injured himself during India’s second innings of the Kanpur test and did not return to the field for the remaining of the test which the hosts won by 197 runs.
It will be very interesting to see if Gambhir actually gets a match to play given that Dhawan is also an option available with Kohli. Also Gambhir’s past with Kohli is not very encouraging and doesn’t do any good to his chances.
Last played in 2014:
The 34 year old Gambhir last played against England at The Oval in August 2014. What made him the favourite to replace Rahul was his performance in the recently played Duleep trophy. He made 356 runs in the 3 games representing India Blue.
Ishant Sharma misses another test:
Also, Ishant Sharma is set to miss another match to be played in Kolkata from 30th September. He suffered from Chikungunya and still recovering. Jayant Yadav replaces him in the squad.
