India beat Pakistan to enter U-18 Asia Cup hockey final

A day after Indian Hockey Team captain PR Sreejesh vowed to beat Pakistan in their upcoming game at the Asian Champions Trophy, our Under 18 team defeated Pakistan 3-1 to move into the finals of the Under-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament in Dhaka today.

India leveraged on an early lead in the 7th minute Shivam Anand’s strike found the net. Indian played with utmost aggression right from the word go. And with that attitude, doubling the lead was just a matter of time. 3 minutes to half time they did so through a penalty corner, converted by Dilpreet Singh.

The change of ends did not mean the change of fortunes. India continued to maintain their supremacy and had most of the possession. The charge and energy resulted in another penalty corner in India’s favour. However the penalty stroke was this time stopped in front of the Pakistan goal.

But not for very long; in the 46th minute Nilam Sanjeep Xess took advantage of another penalty corner to give India an invincible 3-0 lead.  Amjad Ali Khan (63rd) pulled one back for Pakistan although a little too late as India won the bout 3-1.

India will now take on Bangladesh in the final tomorrow.
Just after India’s win, our very own Mr Vijay Goel took to twitter and congratulated the Indian team for their win against the neighbors.
