In what would a first of it’s kind, the BCCI is considering to pull India out of the ICC Champions Trophy tournament which will happen in the month of June. India are also the reigning champions which makes it a far more complex situation. So is India really going to pull out of the ICC Champions Trophy ?

The BCCI is considering the prospect of not participating because they feel that the ICC is breaching an agreement between them.
“The officials at the meeting agreed that ICC is breaching the contract. It was suggested at the SGM that BCCI had been honouring bilateral commitments on Future Tours Programme (FTP) over the past two years only on account of the 2014 revenue and governance model that gave the Big Three sweeping powers. If ICC changes it now, it will be breaching the contract and stabbing BCCI in the back,”
“The board hasn’t played Pakistan only due to politicial reasons; otherwise it has gone according to the FTP,”
“BCCI reserves its rights to take all necessary decisions to exercise the rights under the Members Participation Agreement (MPA).”
The BCCI can also resort to legal action if the ICC does not comply with the agreement. While this is the last case scenario for the BCCI, we must not forget the power and influence that the Indian cricket board has in the cricketing world.

The withdrawal of India would be catastrophic for the ICC as this would surely result in huge financial losses. The fact that India are the defending champions makes it all the more worse.
As cricketing fans we hope that the ICC and BCCI can settle their dispute in an amicable manner as that would be in the best interest of the game.
