Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal career has been plunged into fresh doubt over claims he and the club are ‘miles apart’ over an improved deal.

The midfielder looked to be finally ending the saga surrounding whether he would remain at the Emirates beyond this summer, but the Sun has now alleged that this may not be the case at all.

Wilshere is out of contract on 1st July and has repeatedly stated his desire to remain part of the club’s first-team plans following his nightmare spell with numerous injuries.

Jack Wilshere is ready to quit Arsenal this summer unless the club offer him a significantly improved contract.

After some very promising performances and maintaining his fitness, the Gunners changed their stance on Wilshere and agreed to open talks with him over fresh terms to keep him in north London.

However, despite Arsene Wenger revealing that discussions had been positive, Wilshere and his representatives have been left fuming over Arsenal’s current offer.

And there is no chance of the disillusioned midfielder, 26, signing the offer which is currently on the table. He is said to be ‘stunned by the Gunners’ insistence’ he must take a 25 per cent pay cut to his current £120,000-a-week salary, especially as Mesut Ozil has just signed a new deal worth almost double Wilshere’s current wage.

Wenger said this week: “I want Jack to sign very quickly and I am happy to find the pen for him. Talks are progressing but the decision belongs to him and we have to respect that.

“Our desire has been clearly expressed and numbered and, after that, the player has to find satisfaction as well.”

Fans’ favourite Wilshere is particularly hurt by Arsenal’s stance because he worked hard to prove his fitness after suffering serious injury problems in the past, and hopes that these factors are looked into when penning a new offer for him.
