Robin Uthappa has been an enigma all through. Probably the most serene looking right handed batsman in the country, it has been painful to watch him squander chance after chance of cementing a place in the national team. Every time he is drafted in to the national squad, he somehow finds a way to bow out of it in a hurry. Domestic and IPL performances bring him back into the foray and then the cycle repeats.
This year though was a little different, with Uthappa being dropped from the Karnataka side due to a no show this entire season. The IPL seemed like that last ray of hope that he could cling on, but everyone knew it was a long shot. An India call up was not on the table anymore and Uthappa’s Indian dream had all but ended.

But IPL 10 has turned Uthappa’s fortunes on its head. Umpires and fielders have had a small role to play in this mini revival, but not everyone can milk every opportunity that comes their way. Uthappa has delightfully accepted freebies every now and then, and now he seems to be working his way up the consideration set for CT2017.
Delhi Daredevils has the fiercest new ball attack in the IPL but it was taken to the cleaners by Uthappa, pulling them off the front foot in front of square, a clear indication of how quickly he was picking up the length. A mark of a batsman in form.
Rabada was steaming in at 145 clicks plus, but was getting tonked to all corners by Uthappa. Even DDs golden boy Morris wasn’t reprieved and Mishra was anyways very friendly with his line and length.
This is how Twitter reacted to this superlative performance from Uthappa:

Robin Uthappa has hit 16 sixes in this IPL. He had hit only 15 sixes in the last 2 editions combined. #KKRvDD

Uthappa once again getting into the kind of form that gets him into the India team for a Zimbabwe tour soon after IPL where he always fails.
