Former Indian Captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was nominated for Padma Bhushan by the selection panel.

Padma Bhushan award is the third highest civilian honor of the country. The award was presented to Dhoni by President of India, Ram Nath Kovind today at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

MS Dhoni received the Padma Bhushan by the President of India at the investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan today.

MS Dhoni received the award along with billiards champion Pankaj Advani.

This year, 84 Padma Awards were announced, including two duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one). The list comprises three Padma Vibhushan, nine Padma Bhushan, and 72 Padma Shri awards, an official told TOI.

Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, India won all three ICC trophies. Dhoni is the only captain in the world to win all three ICC trophies. India also climbed to No. 1 in ICC Test Rankings in December 2009 under his captaincy. In IPL, he led CSK to win the title two times and won Fair Play award six times.

Dhoni also received several other awards, including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first player to win the award twice), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor in 2009.

MS Dhoni is also gearing up for the upcoming IPL season where will again lead the CSK side. Recently, Dhoni was seen hitting big sixes in the practice session in a video posted by CSK’s official social account. CSK also played a practice match on Sunday (April 1) but Dhoni missed the game as he had flown to Delhi to collect his award.
