Shawn Michaels Intercontinental Championship

Chris Jericho has had a decorated wrestling career so far. Even at 52, Jericho does not fail to impress the fan with his in-ring skills. The Demo God has won an array of Championships throughout his career. He also had a remarkable reign as the Intercontinental Champion. However, the former WWE star believes Shawn Michaels was a better IC Champion than him.

Jericho and Michaels have known each other for a long time. The duo’s match at WrestleMania 19 was exceptional and well-received by the WWE Universe.

Yet, their rivalry was still underrated. Jericho and HBK feuded in 2008 for over half the year, when the real plan was to pit them against each other for a one-off match. Both superstars recognized their chemistry with each other and produced several grudge matches.

While it can’t be debated that Gunther is the most successful IC Champion of all time, it is interesting that Chris Jericho thinks Shawn Michaels is the greatest.

On Twitter, Wrestling News posted a collage of wrestlers who have held the Intercontinental Championship in their careers and asked who is the GOAT IC Champion of all time.

The picture featured some of the greatest champions such as Razor Ramon, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Gunther, Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, and more. Chris Jericho responded to the post with a three-letter word- “HBK”.

Without a doubt, Shawn Michaels is indeed one of the greatest IC Champions of all time. Michaels has held the IC Championship three times in his career. The Heartbreak Kid’s most memorable win was when he returned to the ring in 1995 and defeated Jeff Jarret to win the IC Title and started his third reign.

However, nothing compares to Shawn Michaels’ groundbreaking ladder match with Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X. Though Shawn Michaels was on the losing side, the duo delivered history-making making.

While Shawn Michaels retired from in-ring competition in 2010, Jericho still continues to amaze his fans by hanging with much younger talents in the ring. Nevertheless, both wrestling legends are the greatest of all time in their own right.
