"Inter already have a handshake with Wijnaldum”: Liverpool Midfielder Closing In On Serie A Switch

The player is said to have agreed a deal with Barcelona

While its no hidden secret that Georginio Wijnaldum will be departing Liverpool come the end of the ongoing season, the midfielder’s future is still unclear.

Both Inter Milan and Barcelona have been heavily linked to the player. While Barcelona were always set to be the player’s preferred destination, Inter Milan had emerged in the race as well with Conte eager to link up with the midfielder.

However, it looked like Wijnaldum’s future had finally been cleared as reports of him agreeing a pre-contract with Barcelona emerged. The player was said to have inked a deal with the La Liga side ahead of the end of his deal at Liverpool, one which curtails upon the end of the current season.

Wijnaldum Refuses To Divulge Details On Future

Quizzed about his future and on the talks of him agreeing a deal with Barcelona, Wijnaldum himself preferred to not dwell upon the issue at hand. Currently with Netherlands for the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers, Wijnaldum chose to remain silent over the questions directed his way.

Asked about his future by NOS, he said: “They will always talk about these things but as I’ve said on other occasions, I have no news still.

“They say this in the media but I have no news. When there is I will talk about it, but there isn’t.

“I’m here now to talk about the games against Turkey, Latvia and Gibraltar.”

He had also recently spoken about how a move away from Liverpool would be a tough pill for him to digest.

“Really difficult because if that happens you will leave a team who you really love, a team who you shared a lot of years together, and where you feel really comfortable,” the Liverpool midfielder had said.

“That would be difficult. It always depends on the situation but that I would be devastated that I don’t play with this team anymore, that would be for sure.

“At the moment, there is no news as it is right now. I would lie if I come with news.

“The only thing that I can say is that I’m really happy at the club – I’m really happy with the team, the staff, and really happy with the fans for who I play.”
