Harry Maguire Confronts Ed Woodward Over Super League Plans

Why the Super League was fathomed and ultimately executed is something which is becoming more and more cumbersome to understand by the moment.

Ever since the newest competition was announced by its founding members, the world of football has spared no expense to lambast the event. From the biggest to the smallest clubs, every club, supporter and governing council and been left livid with the greed shown by the twelve Super League clubs.

What is a more worrying issue though for the 12 sides set to be a part of the league is that voices of dissent are coming from within at the moment. The managers and players of the six Premier League clubs involved in the Super League are fuming with their employer’s decision to complete leave them in the cold about the league’s plan.

Maguire Squares Off With Woodward

Manchester United’s captain, Harry Maguire has too voiced his displeasure at the latest development. As per reports emanating from England, the club’s captain confronted Ed Woodward, the side’s chairman during a meeting between Woodward and the club’s squad.


Woodward and the Glazers have been massively smeared ever since the ESL was revealed with the American owners said to be playing a major part in pushing the competition ahead.

Woodward who held an emergency meeting with his side’s players failed to assuage their anger. Rather, Woodward was hit out at for hiding the ESL’s plans and throwing Ole under the mat.

Maguire joins a lengthy pile of Premier League associated people to have been left baffled by the plans of the European Super League. Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Manchester City’s Pep, Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford, James Milner are amongst others who have publicly voiced their angst at the move.

Jordan Henderson is said to have called a meeting of all Premier League captains to further discuss the intricacies of the Super League and decide on the road forward. Meanwhile, Florentino Perez, the ESL’s founding member asserted that the league would be getting underway later this year.
