Anthony Davis trade rumors: Pelicans make decision on Davis’ move before trade deadline

Anthony Davis’ impending trade and the rumors around it have been going on all through the season, with the Pelicans man seemingly growing frustrated in New Orleans, thanks to the abysmal season start that they have had.

The Pelicans have looked out of sorts and despite impressive numbers and performances from Davis, they sit in 13th position in the Western conference, with a 20-23 record.

The Lakers and LeBron have been trying everything possible to recruit the big man, with LeBron even taking Davis for dinner when the Pelicans visited LA a month ago.

However, none of that has really worked, as no concrete details of a deal going through have emerged.

Davis has constantly admitted that he is not looking at what the future holds and wants to focus on just the present and working towards getting the Pelicans a playoff berth.

Kevin Pelton of ESPN has reported that while Davis could ultimately end up leaving the Pelicans, he won’t be doing so before the trade deadline.

“They shouldn’t and won’t, mostly because I don’t know what big trade there is to be made at this point. I’d consider it extremely unlikely Anthony Davis will be traded at the deadline, and the Lakers should certainly wait to see whether Davis is attainable before making another blockbuster trade.” he reported.

Now, it will be interesting to see how the Lakers respond to this development, as according to reports they had devoted quite a few resources towards acquiring Anthony Davis before the trade deadline.

The Lakers are trying to form a dynasty around LeBron, and need a couple of blockbuster signings in order to help them achieve their dream.

Davis for the time being seems to be on the hold, but a move post the season cannot be ruled out, especially when Davis himself hasn’t spoken about it(or committing to Pelicans for a long time).
