Arbaaz Khan involved in betting racket

IPL has always been infamous for all the betting scandals that revolve around it and just when it seemed like this season would be clear of all such speculations, reports in India Today suggest that Arbaaz Khan has been summoned by Thane Police for IPL betting.

Arbaaz’s name cropped up in an international betting ring that was busted recently, as the Bollywood celebrity had placed huge bets during IPL 2018 with bookie Sonu Jalan.

Arbaaz has been called in for investigation about the entire betting racket that is reported to be associated with a large scale international betting circuit.

Sonu Jalan used to operate a betting software caught ‘Bet and Take’ and is reported to be also associated with Dawood Ibrahim.

Jalan already has a police record, as he was arrested in 2012 by the Mumbai Police. At that point of time he had conceded that he had paid a Sri Lankan player Rs 10 crore to fix an IPL game.

Sections 420, 468, 465, . 471 of IPC , several sections of Bombay Gambling Act, IT Act and Indian Telegraph Act have been levied on all the offenders and we’ll have to wait and see what comes out of this initial investigation.

Apparently, Arbaaz is not the only celebrity involved in the entire betting racquet, as Thane Police suspect that a lot of other Bollywood celebrities are also part of the entire betting racket.

If something does come out of this investigation, it will have both positive and negative connotations for the IPL. The good part will be that the current betting racket would be busted but the downside is that the IPL would be brought under the scanner once again, and that could lead to fans feeling a little alienated from the event because of all the ‘fixing and betting’ allegations.
