Denis Suarez to Arsenal

Arsenal are close to wrapping up a deal for FC Barcelona’s Denis Suarez.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Denis Suarez who is currently plying his trade with FC Barcelona, report the Italian publication Gianluca Di Marzio. Even though the fee is not known and mentioned anywhere, an amount of nearly 20 million would be enough to seal the Spanish ace.

Unai Emery already knows the midfielder having signed him on loan for a season at Sevilla. He made 31 appearances during the season and was crucial to Sevilla’s Europa League success.

Blessed with passing intelligence and ability to be more mobile as a midfielder to link up with attacking and defensive play, Suarez is a huge prospect who never really fulfilled his talent at Barcelona.

He joined Villarreal on a permanent basis in 2015 and impressed plenty of scouts across Europe. Since Barcelona inserted a buy-back clause in his contract, they were able to lure him away to Nou Camp a year later.

His talent has not been brought into question, with the London duo clubs Arsenal and Chelsea expressing their desire to sign him, but it looks like the Gunners have won the battle for it.

Since Denis Suarez is a flexible player, Unai Emery would be able to use him as a defensive or attacking midfielder. The injuries to Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Danny Welbeck, and the inability of Mesut Ozil to fit into the Spaniard’s philosophy means that Denis Suarez could play behind the strikers.

Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, and Matteo Guendouzi have been used as the defensive midfielders this term. The Switzerland International, in particular, has been forced to switch positions to left-back because of the ongoing problems with Nacho Monreal who is facing a sideline.

If they do not perform up to their task, Suarez has the capability to step into that position. Aaron Ramsey has been heavily linked with Juventus, and many sources report that he would become the player of the Italian outfit following this season.

The Spaniard has made just six appearances this term and has been forced to be withdrawn because of the huge amount of midfielders Barcelona already have in their bag. In the summer transfer window, he asked to leave the Catalans, but his move was blocked.

But, due to the very less game time which was supposed to be awarded by Valverde this campaign, Suarez has not been properly utilized.

It could prove to be a really good deal for both the parties as the Gunners are currently looking out for players who are versatile and Denis Suarez is moving to get proper game time.
