Busquets is yet to be offered the desired contract at FC Barcelona, and PSG are monitoring the Spanish midfielder.

Ligue 1 Giants Paris Saint-Germain may want to take note as Sergio Busquets is reportedly demanding the renewal of his contract at Barcelona.

Busquets signed his last contract extension at Barcelona in September 2016. His current deal at Camp Nou will expire in 2021. The Spain international has been a first-team regular ever since making his debut in 2008, under Pep Guardiola.

It looks likely that PSG will further strengthen this coming summer as they look to dominate in Europe. This year in February, Mundo Deportivo reported that the French club is keen on signing the Barcelona midfielder. Busquets is important to Barcelona’s style of play and has racked up an incredible trophy-haul at the age of just 29.

According to Spanish publications Mundo Deportivo, Busquets informed the Camp Nou chiefs that he’s looking for a pay rise. However, the Barcelona board is unwilling to do as their main focus lies in securing Samuel Umtiti’s future.

Mundo Deportivo also claims that Manchester City and PSG would be interested if Busquets leaves Camp Nou. However, it is more likely that the Spaniard’s ultimate destination will be Manchester City. Busquets has admitted that only his wife and Pep Guardiola can convince him to leave Barcelona.

In an interview with a local daily, Busquets revealed: “My wife is from here and is a Barça fan, so I don’t think there would be a problem on a personal level. In footballing terms, that other person is Guardiola. I obviously owe him a lot and it would be an honour to play under him again.”

Spaniard’s agent Josep Maria Orobitg is aware of PSG’s interest in the midfielder, who has followed him since years. However, his desire to play for Guardiola could make it difficult for Tuchel’s side to sign the Barcelona star in the unlikely event he leaves Barcelona.

Busquets will be back in action on Wednesday when Barcelona plays South African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
