“Business as usual. No big thing”: Thomas Tuchel Reveals He’s Reconciled With Callum Hudson-Odoi

The manager was irked with the player at the weekend

Launching a scathing assessment of Callum Hudson-Odoi following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Southampton at the weekend, many pondered if things were cordial between the two.

Tuchel had smeared Callum’s attitude and work ethic ensuing the draw with the manager saying it was behind his decision to substitute the player after just 30 minutes. CHO had been brought on as a substitute in the 46th before being pegged off in the 76th minute for Hakim Ziyech.

However, ever since, Thomas Tuchel has been quick to quiet down the bruhaha engulfing the tense situation. Speaking ahead of his side’s round of 16 clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, Tuchel said Callum Hudson-Odoi was all smiles in training. He also asserted that the player would be travelling with the club for the matchup.

Tuchel Reveals Talks With CHO

“It’s a lesson for him to learn, for me also, and we move on. Business as usual. No big thing,” Tuchel said when asked about the player.

“We decided to speak to him in front of the group. Was it the right decision? I don’t know. We did it in front of a group because it is not a big thing.”

Tuchel Offers Injury Update

Tuchel also spoke about the club’s injuries with him affirming that both Pulisic and Kai Havertz were in the squad to travel to Bucharest. CB Thiago Silva meanwhile continues to miss out for the side.

“It’s a big test. They are an experienced club at his level, an experienced coach. Hopefully it brings out the best in us. We will do things our way, they will do things there way. It’s clear what you get when you play Atletico: fighting, experience, a team with a good mentality,” Tuchel said when asked about the impending tie.

“As a coach, you know it takes a certain level to win competitions. So me, I felt it a big challenge to become champion every year in France and to arrive in cup finals. You feel it every day what is needed to have this mentality.

From the outside, I understand why he feels like this. The Premier League for Chelsea is a much bigger value to Ligue 1 for Paris Saint-Germain.”
