Carabao Cup Final Date Change: When Has The Summit Clash Been Rescheduled For?: The EFL have decided to postpone the tournament’s showpiece final

A fresh wave of COVID cases in UK has ended up once again disrupting life in the region. Whilst football has been given the go ahead after Boris Johnson announced the country’s third lockdown, stadiums have been once again closed for spectators.

Its prompted to the EFL to reschedule the Carabao Cup clash. In a bid to usher in viewers for the glistening final, the governing council has decided to do away with the traditional February 28 final for this season.

When is the Carabao Cup Final?

A statement from the body confirmed that 25 April, 2021 has been nailed down as the fresh date to conduct the final.

“This season’s Carabao Cup Final has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday 25 April 2021, with a 4pm kick-off,” the EFL said.

“It is the objective of the league to stage the final with as many supporters in attendance as possible and the decision has therefore been taken to move the final from its original date of Sunday 28 February 2021 to later in the year.

“The number of fans permitted will be dependent on Government guidance in place at the time and it is hoped that moving the date to later in the year will give clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person.”

The Carabao Cup semi-final ties between Tottenham and Brentford on Tuesday and Manchester United and Manchester City on Wednesday will meanwhile go ahead as scheduled without any spectators.

The Premier League has had to face the brunt of a more virulent strain of the virus. The league recently confirmed that 40 players had tested positive for the disease across the course of the last week with Manchester City, Fulham and Newcastle United most affected.

Players have been smeared after found flouting COVID norms during the Christmas and new year period. Its prompted club to clampdown on such activities to ensure that bio-bubbles instilled are not breached by club members.
