TheSportsRush brings Manchester United’s expected lineup vs Young Boys as Mourinho’s men begins their Champions League campaign.

Manchester United will begin their Champions League 2018/19 campaign against Swiss champions BSC Young Boys on September 19 (September 20 in India). Mourinho’s side are drawn with Italian champions Juventus and Spanish side Valencia in their Champions League group.

In their previous campaign, Manchester United were knocked out by Sevilla in the round-of-16. United were at the center of controversy during the knock-out game, as Paul Pogba was dropped by Jose Mourinho owing to inconsistent form.

TheSportsRush takes a look at United’s expected lineup:

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

Even though it is a Champions League group game, Jose Mourinho is likely to start his first-choice keeper for the match. De Gea was solid for United in the game against Watford, making crucial saves which secured three points for the club.

Defence: Valencia, Bailly, Lindelof, Young

Eric Bailly had a horrible match against Brighton and Hove Albion, and has since failed to make a place in the starting XI. However, the manager might be inclined to give him a run in a relatively easy Champions League group match. The others are expected to retain their position. Luke Shaw lacks practice, as Mourinho suggested after the Englishman suffered injury during the international break.

Midfield: Matic, Fellaini, Pogba

Nemanja Matic was terrific for United in the midfield against Watford, bar the unnecessary challenge in the end which resulted in a red card. The Serbian midfielder is suspended for United’s next Premier League match against Wolves, and so could start. Fellaini has silenced his critics for now, and so did Pogba.

Forward: Rashford, Lukaku, Alexis

Jesse Lingard might be sidelined for the match due to excessive game time. Lingard is one of the first-team regulars, and Mourinho may rest him for the match. With Rashford also facing suspension from Premier League due to red card against Burnley, he might be preferred to start.
