Rishabh Pant supports Hemkunt Foundation with monetary donation amid COVID-19 crisis

Rishabh Pant supports Hemkunt Foundation: The Indian wicket-keeper batsman has come forward to donate to a noble cause.

India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has become the latest high-profile player to make a donation towards India’s COVID-19 crisis. Pant took to his social media handles to share the development with his fans.

It is due to the coronavirus that Indian Premier League 2021 had been postponed midway through the season. Just as the league stage of the biggest T20 competition had crossed the halfway mark, players and support staff started to return positive tests which ended up postponing the tournament to ensure everyone’s well-being.

Leading Delhi Capitals for the first time this season, Pant had scored 213 runs in eight innings at an average and strike rate of 35.50 and 131.48 respectively. At the time of the tournament coming to a halt, Capitals were the table-toppers with six victories in eight matches under Pant.

Before Pant, the likes of Pat Cummins, Brett Lee, Rajasthan Royals, Capitals, Shikhar Dhawan, Sachin Tendulkar, Jaydev Unadkat, Nicholas Pooran, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli and others had come forward to join hands regarding donating to various entities to bolster India’s fight against the virus.

“I am supporting the Hemkunt Foundation through a monetary donation that will help provide O2 cylinders with beds, Covid-relief kits and much more to those suffering across the country. I am especially keen to work with organizations providing medical aid and support to rural India and non-metro cities, which do not have the capacity of medical infrastructure than that of major cities,” Pant said in a statement.

Hit significantly hard by the ongoing wave of coronavirus, India is struggling with medical facilities ranging from hospital beds to oxygen cylinders. Going by the latest numbers, India is registering in excess of 4,00,000 cases on a daily basis.
