Joe Saward’s Inside F1 podcast had revealed that Sky Sports and David Croft were going to part ways, after a healthy 6 year relationship.

But, Sky Sports has shot down those reports, releasing a statement about David Croft’s involvement with Sky, and confirming that he will stay on with them.

“David remains a part of the team and he’ll be with us when we become the exclusive home of Formula 1 in 2019,” a statement from Sky Sports read.

Earlier today, there was a lot of speculation around Croft’s future with Sky Sports, as joe Saward had claimed that Sky Sports did not quite want him in the team.

Reports had suggested that Webber could replace Croft and could form a rather impressive partnership with Brundle.

While that still could happen, but it won’t quite happen at the expense of David Croft.

Sky though haven’t confirmed if Croft would continue as lead commentator.

There were mixed emotions about Croft being reportedly sacked as Sky commentator, as there were a few fans who loved the way he carried himself and the F1 show on weekends, whereas there were others, who felt Croft wasn’t good enough to keep the fans entertained.

“Crofty is very good when there’s exciting on-track action but when it quiet his observations and opinions are horrible. He especially likes to stir the pot, insinuating drama and troubles from every little thing.

“For me the most annoying thing is when during a FP long-run he’ll immediately attribute a slow lap to the tires going off but not stop to think ‘maybe that guy had traffic’ – then using that slow-lap he makes conclusions on race-pace.” a fan commented.
