Three teams have stayed on at the Circuit de Barcelona to partake in the latest round of testing for Pirelli’s tyres
After Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes became the third team to test Pirelli’s set of 18 inch tyres at Imola, the leading tyre provider for the F1 is all set to further expand the testing of its prototypes.
The aftermath of the Spanish Grand Prix sees three teams remain at the Circuit de Barcelona to indulge in Pirelli’s latest round of tests. Alpine, Alfa Romeo and Red Bull will take part in the test on Tuesday and Wednesday, Pirelli confirmed on Twitter.
Alfa Romeo and Red Bull teams will be on track for both days, while Apline will only be around for the first day of proceedings.
Albon To Conduct Tests For Red Bull
Red Bull will have Alex Albon conduct the tests for them on both Tuesday and Wednesday, Pirelli Motorsport took to Twitter to reveal on Monday.
The latest round of testing continues the F1’s commitment to shift to 18 inch tyres for the 2022 season. The change is amongst a raft of new rules the governing council has slated for the forthcoming edition of the Formula 1 season.
The testing for the newest range of Pirelli tyres began in February this year in Spain with Ferrari becoming the first team to partake in the tests. Every team barring Williams are slated to test the 2022 compounds in a bid to get a better understanding of how the cars will function with the new additions.
Hamilton To Take Part Wet Weather Training
Lewis Hamilton will be in action for Pirelli at the end of May at Paul Ricard Circuit for wet weather tyre testing of the new 18 inch compounds. Hamilton had previously celebrated his return to the Spanish F1 by winning the race to make it five successive wins at the venue.
The Circuit de Barcelona has over the years emerged as a bastion for Hamilton with the Mercedes driver making the circuit his own. He managed to prevail on Sunday despite seeing Max Verstappen snap at his heels across all the laps.
