Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy has been lauded by all during this season’s IPL, as the former Indian international has used innovative methods and smart picks to put off the other teams. But it is not just his on field efforts that need to be applauded, Gambhir recently announced that he will pay for the educational expenses of the kids of the CRPF jawans killed in the Sukma attack, a gesture that showcases his love for the nation.

Gambhir has always been very vocal about his love for the army, and how he feels indebted to them everyday, for making the entire nation feel at peace.

25 CRPF personnel were killed in an attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. The incident happened at the Burkapal village in Sukma district and is being touted as the worst attack by Naxals in the last seven years.

Gambhir was devastated when he came across the news and said that his foundation will do all it can to provide relief to the families and take care of the education of all the children who lost their fathers in the deadly attack.

“On Wednesday morning, I picked up newspapers and saw gut-wrenching pictures of the daughters of two CRPF men killed in the latest attacks. One was saluting her martyred father while in the other picture, the howling young woman was being consoled by her relative,” Gambhir wrote. “The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs. My team has already started work on this and I shall soon share the progress we have made.”

KKR players wore a black bandS in honour of the departed CRPF jawans and Gautam Gambhir even took to twitter to express his utter disgust at what had transpired in Sukma.

It’s heartening to see that Gambhir’s foundation will be providing the children of these martyrs with some much needed education. And hopefully some of the many privileged people follow suit
