Hector Herrera to Arsenal: The Mexican footballer is linked with a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal are enjoying a great run in form as the team is currently on a six-match winning streak across all competitions. Unai Emery’s side are fifth in the Premier League, level on points with city rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Last week, Arsenal also cruised to the next round of the Carabao Cup, after defeating the lower-league side Brentford. Unai Emery’s side then defeated the high-flying Watford in the weekend fixture.

They will now face Qarabag in the Europa League in a bid to extend their winning run to seven matches in all competitions.

As Arsenal surge in form continues, the board is also using this time to prepare for the January transfer market.

Hector Herrera to Arsenal

The Mexican midfielder was linked with Arsenal over the summer, but no substantial bid was placed by the Gunners. However, Arsenal have not given up on the player and look ready to sign him next year.

According to Portuguese media outlet A.Bola, an official from Arsenal was present during Porto’s match against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Hector Herrera captained Porto and was on the field for 88 minutes, before being substituted.

Arsenal are keen on signing the player. More importantly, Herrera will be available on a free transfer next summer, as he is yet to sign a new deal with the club. His current contract expires in 2019.

Overhaul?

Arsenal underwent a minor squad overhaul this summer as Unai Emery’s arrival saw the departure of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. The Gunners made five major signings, which included two midfielders, two defenders and a goalkeeper.

Lucas Torreira, Mateo Guendouzi and Sokratis have established themselves as first-team regulars in the side, while goalkeeper Bernd Leno is expected to get first-team action with injury to Petr Cech.

What next?

Arsenal will play Qarabag in the second match of the Europa League group stage later tonight. Aaron Ramsey, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be among the major absentees for Arsenal in the match.

In the weekend, Arsenal will travel to Fulham, after which the players will head out for the international break.
