Sheffield United vs Arsenal: 3 players who could change the game on their own| Premier League 2019/20

The Arsenal captain has been horrendous for his side this season

For Arsenal, striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s form has been a throbbing headache this season. Ever since the player has penned a new deal with the club, he’s looked to have lost all interest in trying to fathom meaningful performances on the pitch.

Whilst, bad form can always be compensated for, its Aubameyang’s complete lack of failure to do so which has irked the club’s ardent supporters. The Arsenal captain has on manifold occasions been caught sulking and tottering around on the pitch.

Its seen comparisons between him and erstwhile Mesut Ozil be drawn up. Ozil was a sore sight for Arsenal supporters, a player who completely failed to punch above his weight and show the stomach for a fight.

Arteta Asserts Aubameyang Is Committed To Arsenal

However, Mikel Arteta was unwilling to comment on those links. When quizzed about the comparison, the Arsenal manager said he wasn’t interested in talking about players who had left the club.

“I am always positive about the future and don’t want to think about things that happened in the past, or compare different situations or different personalities,” Arteta replied when asked if Aubameyang’s work rate reminded him of Ozil.

“Yes, we talked before the Europa League that everybody has contributed in different ways, the whole squad has been involved.

“Yesterday, the role for him was to start on the bench and to make an impact, and he made an impact, he assisted Nico for his goal and he should have scored with his left foot, and that’s what players have to do when they come in.”

Arteta also spoke at length about his side’s 1-1 draw in the Europa League and tried to provide a reasoning for his side’s inability to get past the finishing line.

“It is clear why but it is about preventing it from happening, that’s a different story,” Arteta said as he explained his team conceding late on.

“In a pretty big amount of games, we haven’t managed to do that for different reasons.

“Last night was a clear example, we created four or five really big chances and we have to put them in the net, and then you have some margin for what happened in the 94th minute when you concede from a set piece.

“That can happen, but what cannot happen is the way we managed the last four or five minutes.”
