Jamaica Tallawahs vs Barbados Tridents- Preview

An Andre Russell special in the last game against the Knight Riders ensured that the Tallawahs rose to the top of the table in CPL 2016. The all rounder was at the top of his game with both bat and ball and almost single handedly outplayed the Knight Riders out of the game. The Tallwahs would be hoping that he continues this form for the rest of the tournament with Chris Gayle looking out of sorts.

The Barbados Tridents are currently placed third in the table and would be hoping to win this game at all costs as AB de Villiers will not be available from the next game due to international duty. But the Tridents will take heart in the fact that they won the last game despite any significant contribution from AB de Villiers and Keiron Pollard. It was Nicholas Pooran who took on the mantle of getting his side a victory in the last game against the St. Lucia Zouks with a well-crafted 81 of just 39 balls.

Chris Gayle would be hoping to get back to his ‘brutal’ scoring ways as a victory tonight for the Tallawahs would almost guarantee them a knockout spot. The Tridents on the other hand would be hoping for one last magical show from Mr.360.

On the bowling front both these teams look equally balanced with the Tridents boasting of quality fast bowlers in Wayne Parnell and Ravi Rampaul and the Tallawahs have world class all rounders in Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan and Imad Wasim, who are more than a handful with the ball.

All in all, with the number of local and international stars on display, this promises to be a mouth watering encounter.

Batsmen

So, there is a dearth of pure batsmen for this game and thus you will have to go in for the high priced ones in Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik because the ones that are worth less money do not feature in the starting XI of both these sides. So, you’ll have to cut down on your spending while selecting players from other categories.

The first two players that I get in for this category are Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik. While Gayle hasn’t fired in the last few games, there is always this threat of him going berserk after a string of low scores and thus you can’t afford to leave him out because if you do, and he scores big, there is no chance of you racking up any money tonight!

Shoaib Malik also hasn’t really turned it on in CPL 2016 but he has chipped in with decent scores of 30 odd throughout the event. Again, due to the dearth of better options you anyways have to get him in, so just hope that he gets going tonight!

Get any of the Rs 3500 worth batsmen into your side for the third spot as anyways they aren’t going to get a chance to feature in tonight’s game!

Wicketkeeper

With AB de Villiers on his way out of the CPL after this game, you can expect him to leave with a bang. Between Sangakkara and De Villiers, I’ll opt for ABD every day of the week as Sangakkara can’t score as quickly as ABD.

All Rounder

Andre Russell was the lone warriors for the Tallawahs in the last game with both bat and ball. He has been constantly amongst the best players in T20 tournaments across the world, earning the MVP tag in the IPL and BBL. He is extremely valuable to the Tallawahs plans of landing the CPL title this time round and thus you just ought to make him central to your plans of winning some cash as well.

Bowlers

Ravi Rampaul and Wayne Parnell are the two best pure bowlers available for this fixture and I will be getting both of them in as they have been picking up at least a wicket each in all their games until now. You can expect them to provide you with at least 3 wickets amongst them tonight.

The third bowler that I get in for this game is Rovman Powell. The brilliant thing about him is that despite being a pure bowler in the Moneyball9 Fantasy game, he gets to bat at number 4 for his side, providing me with a double scoring opportunity. He has been in great form with the bat as well, contributing well in the last two games. Also, at Rs 4000 he is a real valuable pick, get him in!

Flexible Player

Navin Stewart is my flexible player for this game. With just Rs 4500 in the bank, I had to opt for a sub par player and thus I opt for Stewart who made a decent enough contribution in the last game by picking up 1 wicket in 3 overs and giving just 25 runs.

Happy Team Picking!
