John McEnroe and Nick Kyrgios argue with chair umpire at Laver Cup over a service call with the chair umpire instructing ‘replay the point’.

The Laver Cup has brought to the fore a new side of Tennis, one where superstars from the world of Tennis are learning to compete and thrive in a team environment.

While the Davis Cup too brings the team dynamics into play, it doesn’t quite have so many stars under one roof. Also, the coverage of the Laver Cup and the way it is being promoted add to the grandeur of the event.

Roger Federer and the Laver Cup team are trying to promote this new format of Tennis, one where top stars from all around the globe come together and experience a different form of Tennis.

Now, while everything has gone on pretty smoothly at the Laver Cup this year, there was this incident in the match between Kyrgios and Federer last night, when both Kyrgios and McEnroe went off at the chair umpire.

During the second set, Kyrgios dished out a mighty serve, one which was prematurely called out by the linesman. The chair umpire then overruled the call, but decided to ask the players to replay the point.

The chair umpire felt that Federer did have a small chance of making that return and was put off by that ‘out’ call.

Kyrgios told the chair umpire that he was delusional, whereas McEnroe went out on a massive rant.

Check out the video:

Apart from this little incident, the match went on smoothly, especially from Team Europe’s perspective.

Federer won 6-3, 6-2 and currently Team Europe lead 7-5 against Team World.
