The Chennai Super Kings management has been trying to pull all the right strings in order to get their team back to where it belongs in the Indian Premier League.

With the list of the retained players to be submitted by January 4th, the CSK think tank is in the process of finalising their auction strategy and get their coaching staff in place as soon as possible.

With Stephen Fleming almost certain to start as head coach for the Chennai side, reports have emerged that Michael Hussey will be roped in as Batting Coach.

Michael Hussey and CSK will have a reunion of sorts, with Hussey having played for CSK from 2008-2013, in what can be considered as the glorious years of CSK.

Hrishikesh Kanitkar too would be joining the CSK coaching staff as Assistant coach. Kanitkar is presently the head coach of the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team. He led Tamil Nadu to the Vijay Hazare trophy in the 2016/17 season.

MS Dhoni will in all probability captain the CSK side this season but an official announcement on his retention and his role is yet to be finalised.

Other franchises too have been making recruitments with respect to their coaching team, with Brad Hodge being appointed as the Head Coach of Kings XI for the next season.

Ricky Ponting is on his way out and will not be coaching Mumbai Indians this time round, with an Australian coaching role up for grabs.
