LeBron James signed on for the Lakers because he wanted to create history for himself and the franchise.

James is chasing Michael Jordan’s legacy as he wants to be the greatest of all time, but for that he will need to win more championships, and with the Lakers badge on his chest, it might be a little more special.

The Lakers franchise boasts of some of the greatest players in NBA history, those who have won championships with the franchise and have set NBA records left, right and centre.

And with only 25 games into the season, LeBron is already breaking those long instated records here in LA.

LeBron has overtaken Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal, as he has scored the most points by a Lakers player in the first 25 games for the team.

James has amassed 717 points in the first 25 games, leaving behind Kareem, who had 714 points in the 1975-76 season and Shaq, who had 642 points in the 1996-97 season.

James has been really impressive for Lakers in his debut season, controlling games during clutch situations and helping the Lakers find some direction going forward.

He has been dealing with some concern regarding his role in the team, on whether he should take a step back and the let the youngsters flourish or if he should control the game a little more.

He has been averaging 28.7 points per game which is pretty nice for the King so early on in the season.

The Lakers and LeBron would be hoping that he can build on this initial momentum, knock down a few more Lakers and NBA records and ultimately help the Lakers win the the NBA title.

The Lakers lost to Spurs last night, but came back strongly today against the Grizzlies to win their 16th game of the season.

They are off to a 16-10 start, despite not getting off the blocks really well. Last season they ended with a 35-47 record and thus needed something radical to turn things around.

The Lakers management has done the first bit and will be hoping that LeBron and co. can finish things off.

Can LeBron and the Lakers go all the way and win the NBA title?
