LeBron James injury update: Lakers hit with massive blow for playoff berth

LeBron James suffered a bad groin injury during Lakers’ Christmas day win against the Warriors. LeBron was going in for a loose ball when he felt like he tore his groin. He then aggravated the injury when he was playing defense on the next play, before calling for a timeout.

He was then rushed to the locker room and was taken in for a scan.

Lakers had then revealed that LeBron would be assessed on a day-to-day basis and that not much damage had been done to his groin.

While fans expected LeBron to return in a game or two, he has now been out for 2 weeks now and reports state that Lakers’ worst nightmare could actually come true.

Lakers currently sit in 8th position with a 22-19 record, having won just 2 of their last 7 games(games when LeBron was absent).

Now, a worrying report has come through from ‘OnSmash.com’, claiming that LeBron’s groin injury is actually a ‘sports hernia injury’ and is certain to force him to play through pain for the rest of the season.

LeBron is thus going to be out for at least one month or maybe more due to the ‘sports hernia injury’.

“We’ve been told through sources that LeBron allegedly has a sports hernia injury – more severe than an injured groin,” the report read.

“This is likely to sideline him for longer than a month and possibly more, since he’s not going to get surgery treatment.

“While Los Angeles is declining to undergo the knife this season, our guess is that he’ll be out until after All-Star break.

“Resting a sports hernia heals up, but he can’t continuously play at an elite level without feeling pain.

“Since the King will not be going under the knife for the first time ever in his career, this injury will linger the rest of 2019.” it added.

This comes as a massive blow to Lakers and LeBron, as another month out of action could seriously hamper Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs, as they are already hanging by the edge.

Lakers would be hoping that LeBron can recover quickly and once again lead this young Lakers side in the admirable way that he already has this season.

Another month out, and a host of games to follow, Lakers could find it really tough to make that playoff berth if LeBron is available only for the last leg of games.
