Harry Maguire has been impressive for England at the World Cup.

Premier League giants, Manchester United, are reportedly ready to make a huge bid for English defender Harry Maguire.

The Englishman was fantastic in the World Cup in Russia this summer, and has reportedly caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.

The Daily Mail reports that the Red Devils are willing to splash as much as £50 million on the Leicester City defender. Nevertheless, Leicester City’s rich Thai owners will be fighting hard to keep the 25-year-old.

Maguire signed for Leicester City just last summer, for a fee of around £17 million, but his performance for the Three Lions in the World Cup has shown a sharp increase in his value.

England’s manager, Gareth Southgate, is reported to have chosen Maguire in the English squad for the World Cup due to his immense ability to handle pressure. This will also make Maguire an attractive option in high-pressure games for United.

The Daily Mail also claims that Manchester United might want to replace Phil Jones or Chris Smalling with Harry Maguire, with Jones and Smalling having just a year left in their contract.

On the other hand, Leicester City recently sold Riyad Mahrez to Manchester United’s city-rivals, Manchester City for a club record fee of £60 million.

The club now has a habit of selling its players for a major profit, having bought N’Golo Kante for a mere £5.6 million while recording an income of £32 million on his sale in 2016. Just like that, the Foxes also sold Danny Drinkwater for £35 million to Chelsea last summer.

Having bought Maguire for £17 million just last summer from Hull City, and with Manchester United willing to splash £50 million on him, Leicester City could be tempted on selling the 25-year-old.

The real obstacle for Manchester United will be the transfer window deadline, with only 27 days remaining in that date. On the other hand, if United are to miss out on singing Maguire within the deadline, the Red Devils will be adamant to stop the 25-year-old from moving to another club before the FIFA deadline of 31st August.
