Manchester United’s bid of 30 million Pounds was not enough to seal the midfielder’s signature.

Manchester United made a 30 million pound “take it or leave it” offer for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella which was instantly turned down by the Serie A club. The Italian International is one of the exceptional youth prospects and a host of European heavyweights are already in the race of pursuing him.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, it is understood that the Red Devils have been in constant touch with the club since last January, and the fact that the Italian has been constantly linked with the English outfit means they are not prepared to let him go as they see him as a huge talent.

The trend has already changed. When Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Eric Bailly were considered as world-class upon their arrival to the club, views got changed due to the reception they received from the Portuguese International because he did not want to player’s strength.

It is no brainer that Ed Woodward has been trying to pursue him, but Cagliari have responded that they would not be negotiating until they met their demands which are around 50 million Euros.

With the potential departure of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri eyes him as the perfect replacement for the Spaniard. The Italian International has been hitting the expected heights at the Serie A and the Blues are prepared to pay 40 million up front with the rest in add-ons.

Besides, Napoli and Inter Milan are the other two sides interested to lure him away from Cagliari. Should he stay put until the end of the season, there is no doubt that the Italian outfit would be expecting an auction in the summer transfer window.

Nicolo Barella is one of the few players who could be called as a “tank” for the amount of work rate he puts on for his team. He is a relentless runner and has a knack of goal from distance.

His defensive responsibility stands out the most as he has made 21 tackles during October which is more than any other player at his age in the Serie A. Additionally, he is a really good set-piece taker and has the capability to cause trouble to the goalkeepers.

Nicolo Barella will be assessing his options heavily before taking a call. Currently, Blues are the only side making a move for the Italian International, but things could change if any other bid is launched for the Cagliari midfielder.
