The French international says that he held talks with Real Madrid in the summer and doesn’t regret snubbing them for Paris Saint Germain.

The PSG teenage sensation in a stark revelation to Marca said that he was approached by Real in the summer but it’s a thing of the past now.

After bursting on to the scene with Monaco last season, Mbappe impressed one and all. Florentino Perez was very keen on bringing Mbappe to the Bernabeu and there was huge speculation that the deal would go through. However eventually, PSG swooped in and lured Mbappe to the French capital.

The French winger was absolutely sensational last season scoring 27 goals in all competitions and helping Monaco to the Ligue 1 title.

A move to Real Madrid:

A move to one of the European Giants was on the cards and PSG managed to secure the signature of the 19-year-old for a reported fee of €180m. The move saw him team up with the likes of Neymar and Edinson Cavani at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe confirmed that he held talks with Madrid but insists its all in the past now for both him and Madrid. Paris Saint Germain will face the European Champions in the last 16 of the Champions League in February having scored a record-breaking 25 goals in the group stage.

“It’s true that we spoke, but I think that’s now in the past for me and for Real Madrid,” Mbappe told Marca.

“[I turned down Real Madrid] because PSG is the team of my city. [Joining Madrid] would have been like a Real Madrid-supporting kid from Madrid having the chance to play for his team and deciding to go somewhere else, to another country. “

“There were a lot of rumours about the transfers and it’s true that we spoke, but I think that’s now in the past for me and for Real Madrid.” he concluded

Mbappe’s commitment towards PSG:

Mbappe firmly said that he is 100% committed to PSG and looks forward to winning trophies with the club.

The Frenchman has lived up to the hype of his grand move from Monaco to PSG scoring 12 goals in all competitions and forming a lethal front three of Cavani, Neymar and himself. The French youngster has scored 4 times as they topped group B in Champions League group stage.

Mbappe would be hoping to carry on his scintillating form into the later stages of competitions and help his team bag as many trophies as they can.
