MS Dhoni exposes why CSK sent Jadeja ahead of Bravo

With 85 runs needed from 36, CSK looked dead and buried in their run chase of KXIP’s total of 197. But no body told that to Dhoni, as the greatest finisher in history almost pulled off one of his all time classics.

Dhoni was incapacitated with a back injury, as the legendary player looked uneasy in the middle. Mahi needed some treatment during the timeouts, as the CSK skipper was clearly not at full capacity.

But you can never count out a champion like Dhoni, as Mahi started teeing off with six after six, as the asking rate plummeted down to an attainable level. Mahi almost pulled it off as well, as Dhoni was the favourite to score the remaining runs in the final over.

Ultimately though, Mohit Sharma bowled a really good final over, as Dhoni’s bad back severely constricted his range of shots. He did manage to smash the last ball for six though, as CSK lost the game by just four runs.

After the match, Dhoni mentioned why CSK sent Jadeja ahead of the in-form Dwayne Bravo into the middle.

“All the games we have been part of were close, so individuals would have learnt from that. (On not promoting Bravo) Fleming is in the dug out so he needs to take the decision. We have confidence in Jadeja because he being a left-hander is not easy for the bowlers. This is the time we need to give him the opportunity.

“If Jadeja can do the job of the floater that would be really good for the team as we have Raina at the top of the order. I will back him as we have not given him many opportunities. I don’t know how bad my back is but it should be okay.

“God has given me enough power so I don’t have to rely on my back a lot. It shouldn’t be so bad. I am used to playing with the injuries. You have to be tough.”
