Nadal for Real Madrid president

Rafael Nadal for Real Madrid president: Current Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants Rafael Nadal to succeed him.

Florentino Perez has long admired Rafael Nadal, and in an interview with El Confidencial, he described Nadal as ‘one of the best Real Madrid ambassadors in the world.’

Rafael Nadal has been a life-long fan of Real Madrid, and has, on occasions, expressed his desire to preside over the club. Florentino Perez has also spoken on the possibility of Nadal succeeding him, and insisted that he would be a great president.

“Nadal would be a great election for Real Madrid presidency,” Perez said.

Perez sees Rafael Nadal as a ‘reference point’ in the sports world and off it. However, it would be only in 2031 when Nadal could assume presidency at Real Madrid, when he would be 45.

“We are doing well the way we are and I don’t think Real Madrid needs me, but you never know what can happen in the future.

“I would like to preside over Real Madrid. The club has a great president and it’s not something you can think about today,” Nadal said, as quoted by tennisworldusa.

One has to be a member of Real Madrid for at least 20 years in order to qualify for the post of president for the club. Florentino Perez made the Spanish tennis star an honorary member at the ‘Los Blancos’ in 2011.

The 72-year old Perez became the club president in 2003, and Real Madrid has since been highly successful in both domestic and continental tournaments. Recently, Real Madrid won their third consecutive Champions League title under Zinedine Zidane.

However, the club received a blow when the manager resigned merely four days after the triumph, and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo left for Italian champions Juventus a month later.
