Is LeBron James playing tonight vs Cavaliers? Lakers release their Finals MVP’s injury status ahead of game against his hometown team

Will LeBron James suit up against Collin Sexton and the Cleveland Cavaliers while battling through a lingering left ankle injury?

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been red hot to start off the 2020-21 NBA season. They currently hold the best record in the league at 13-4 but are the second seed in the loaded Western Conference as their in-city rivals, the Clippers, hold an identical record to theirs.

James played a role similar to Robin in comparison to Anthony Davis’s Batman in their bout against the Chicago Bulls. The ‘King’ recorded 17 points and grabbed 11 boards while shooting 6-16 from the field.

What is LeBron James’s status going into tonight’s game against the Cavaliers?

He didn’t seem all too hindered by his persistent left ankle injury Saturday night, despite his lacklustre performance. He did however have an instance where he rose up off his left leg and missed a wide open dunk.

This doesn’t necessarily have to do with his left ankle still healing as he did not refer to it postgame. For context, LeBron James had twisted his left ankle a month ago in the Lakers season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers.

This injury has been nagging the reigning Finals MVP ever since. Now, as the Lakers prepare to face off against the Collin Sexton and co, LeBron James has been listed as questionable. This would generally mean that there is a 50% chance of him suiting up tonight.

Considering the fact that James has yet to miss a game this season, it can be assumed that he will take to the court tonight against the team that drafted him.

Collin Sexton has come out this season guns blazing, averaging nearly 27 points per game while leading the Cavs to a bottom seed out East. James on the other hand averages 28.1 points on his career against the Cavaliers.
