"LeBron James, you're a Chinese finger puppet": Colby Covington blasts Lakers star for double standards while talking politics after Zlatan Ibrahimovic rebuke, cites Daryl Morey incident as proof

Colby Covington fires yet another verbal salvo at LeBron James in the wake of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic comments on politics.

Colby is no stranger when it comes to criticizing and ripping LeBron apart. Covington is a staunch Trump supporter, Republican and in general, stands for the opposite values as the 4-time MVP.

This means that the two are often at loggerheads – LeBron has never acknowledged Covington, but this doesn’t prevent the latter from taking shots. In fact, James’s aversion to Covington is often taken as proof by Colby that James wants no part of him.

Covington was most vocal about LeBron and his political takes during the NBA bubble. The entire league had gone on strike in response to the Jacob Blake shootings, demanding justice for him. At the time, Colby’s comments were quite distasteful, but no one paid heed to him.

Colby Covington ravages LeBron James on Twitter after Zlatan Ibrahimovic comments

Covington launched yet another full frontal assault on King James this time with this tweet:

“When are you gonna speak up about Hong Kong? Oh that’s right, you can’t. You’re a Chinese finger puppet! You make millions playing a kids game & talk about “social justice” but have no problem paying Chinese women in sweatshops pennies to make your products. Slimeball.”

Covington’s criticism is not off the mark here, sadly. When Daryl Morey tweeted out ‘Free Hong Kong’ in support for his friends in the city, James made a real blunder. At the time, James had made this preposterous statement:

“I believe there are ramifications for others when you don’t think about what you say or tweet. I don’t believe Daryl Morey was educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke. So many people could have been harmed – not only financially but physically, emotionally, spiritually.”

Morey was absolutely a lot more well-versed with the Free Hong Kong movement than James was. For James to come out and criticize someone supporting a democratic movement is quite the double standard here. As they say, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
