“Lord have mercy”- Skip Bayless berates Russell Westbrook for costly turnover late in Game 6 vs Thunder

Skip Bayless has never been too big a fan of either Russell Westbrook or James Harden. He got fresh fodder to undermine them with a late turnover by the Brody in Game 6.

With 13.1 seconds remaining in the game, Robert Covington was called for a shooting foul on Chris Paul. Despite Mike D’Antoni’s challenge, the ruling was held up and Chris Paul got to shoot 2 free throws. This put the Oklahoma City Thunder up by 2, at 102-100.

Westbrook brought the ball down court swiftly following the second free throw. There was precious little room for a drive-and-kick from deep penetration at the outset. Therefore he tried to pass the ball out early, but his no-look pass to Covington was way off mark and spilled out of Covington’s hands to go out of bounds. Only 7.6 seconds remained in the game at that point.

Skip Bayless criticizes Russell Westbrook for late-game turnover

Westbrook’s loose play was lambasted by Fox Sports morning show host Skip Bayless on Twitter. While Bayless has often sided with Westbrook given his value as an all-round player, he has given the latter a fair dose of criticism as well.

Bayless almost correctly predicted how the game would finish too. Even before this endgame sequence, Bayless was on the Brody’s case for a subpar night as a distributor.

While Bayless has faced a lot of flak in the past for being overly critical of NBA players, he seems to be on point this time. The Rockets and Thunder face off in a win-or-go-home game in 2 days.
