“Marc Gasol can see plays before they happen”: LeBron James explains how new Lakers teammate is very similar to Rajon Rondo as a passer

LeBron James commends his new Laker teammate Marc Gasol on his passing; draws a comparison to former teammate Rajon Rondo.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be on a roll. Though they did lose their season opener against the Clippers, the way their offense has flowed as of late should definitely scare teams across the league.

It has only been a couple games into the season but the new guys have meshed quite well with the remaining roster. Both Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder have found their footing early, dropping nearly 20 points in multiple games.

Marc Gasol is someone who the Lakers brought in to fill that “big-body” role alongside Anthony Davis. However, Marc Gasol is more than just a brute force down-low and Sunday night’s game proved that.

Gasol showed off his full arsenal against the Timberwolves Sunday night. Whether it was deep 3s or passing in the half court, Gasol let it be known that he still has a lot left in the tank.

The most notable plays from Gasol that night were his sneaky passes to LeBron James, both of which were timed perfectly to the cut James was making.

Following the game, LeBron James raved about Marc and his court vision. He said, “Certain guys just see plays before they happen. Do it with the mind, do it with the pass, Marc is one of those guys. It’s not many who see the game like that.”

He then drew a comparison to one of the greatest passers in NBA history and said, “I’ve been privileged to be alongside Rajon Rondo and now I’m alongside Marc, who can see the game.”

The 35 year old Spaniard was brought onto the Lakeshow for these specific reasons alone. Gasol is also known to be a defensive savant in the paint, rightfully earning him his 2013 DPOY honours.
