"My mom would've slapped me": When Stephen Curry mocked Charles Barkley for his insincere apology to Draymond Green following their spat

Back in 2018, Stephen Curry mocked Charles Barkley’s fake apology after wanting to punch Draymond Green’s ‘a** in the face’.

Charles Barkley was one of the greatest power forwards the league has ever witnessed. Despite being only 6-foot-6, the 252-pound beast was a dominant force on the defensive as well as the offensive end. Because of his massive body frame, Sir Charles ended his 16-year career with an illustrious resume – 11 All-Stars, 11 All-NBAs, MVP, and even enshrined in the prestigious Hall-Of-Fame.

After the conclusion of a successful career, Barkley decided to join the studios as an analyst on TNT’s “Inside the NBA”. Charles is easily one of the best in the business, and because of his uncensored and candid takes, fans are keen on hearing what the legend of the game has to say.

Quite a few times, the analyst ends up getting in an altercation with the players he is reporting on. In this one particular instance, Charles got into an incident with Golden State Warriors forward, Draymond Green.

Stephen Curry mocked legend Charles Barkley for a hollow apology towards GSW star Draymond Green

Back in 2018, during a halftime segment of TNT’s “Inside the NBA”, Charles Barkley saw the clip of Draymond Green and then New Orleans guard Rajon Rondo jawing one and another. Charles, being the candid analyst he is, spoke his mind out:

“I just want somebody to punch him in the face,” Barkley said.

“Why, you don’t like Draymond?” co-analyst Kenny Smith asked.

“I want to punch him in the face so bad,” the Hall of Famer said. “I’m just telling you. I want to punch his ass in the face. I do.”

“Why, what makes you upset?” asked Smith.

“You asked me a question, I gave you an answer,” Barkley responded.

Green was asked about Barkley’s comments in a postgame interview, and this is what the DPOY had to say:

“He’s seen me a million times,” Green said. “If he feels that strongly about it, then punch me in my face when you see me. If you’re not going to punch me in my face when you see me, then shut up. It’s no different than somebody sitting behind a computer screen tweeting. … You’re old, and it is what it is.”

Barkley did give out an apology to the three-time NBA champ, however, made sure to add that he meant what he had initially said:

“What I said was inappropriate. I would never punch an NBA player. I meant what I said. But I would never punch an NBA player.”

Stephen Curry took notice of Sir Charles’ rather faux apology and mocked the former Philly legend for the same. The 2-time MVP said:

“When I was growing up, and I said something where I was in the wrong, my mom wanted me to apologize. If I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I still meant it,’ I would’ve gotten slapped in the face. … When it comes to people with microphones, you can’t take that stuff too seriously.”
