Why Giannis Antetokounmpo's decision-making is responsible for Bucks' offensive woes

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been stellar for the past 2 seasons. He won the NBA MVP award last season and is the forerunner for the title this season too.

Giannis is a wonderful scorer, a monster on the boards, and is incredible on the defensive end of the floor. He is 25 years old and his game is ever-evolving. His consistency as a scorer has been an important reason the Bucks got the #1 spot in the East and finished with the most wins, for a second straight time.

One area on the floor where Giannis needs quite some improvement is his decision making. His poor call making is part of the reason why the Bucks have been struggling against the Heat.

How Giannis’ decision making is affecting him and the Bucks?

Giannis has been the face of the Bucks for a few years now. Within that time, he grew a lot and became the player we see before ourselves today.

The Bucks often rely on Giannis for dictating terms on the offensive floor. Game 1 against the Heat may have obviously frustrated Giannis, but that does not justify what happened in Game 2.

The video below clearly shows how Giannis resorted to 3 point-shooting when clearly there were better options available. He finally went 0-11 from behind the arc in Game 3, much to the disappointment of Bucks fans.

While the reigning MVP is brilliant and driving to the rim, his game apart from that has seriously been called into question, with the Heat really exposing him.

The Bucks were up in Game 2, but poor shot-calling and decision making on Giannis’ part threw off himself and the Bucks as a whole. This gave Heat a chance to make a comeback, and that they capitalized on.

What is expected going to Game 5?

The Greek Freak seems to have re-injured his ankle tonight and is considered to be questionable for Game 5. This would come as a big loss for the Bucks. Giannis left the floor in the 2nd Quarter, having scored 19points, going 8-10 from the floor.

Khris Middleton stepped up tonight, scoring 36, 9 of which came in the OT. Game 5 is still a go-big-or-go-home game for the Bucks, and the possible absence of Giannis would hurt the Bucks’ chances. To win the next game, they would have to able to contain Heat’s prolific scoring and their shooting beyond the arc.
