“Would’ve won a couple titles if I had Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman”: When Charles Barkley berated Michael Jordan for having too much help on the Bulls

Charles Barkley hilariously roasted Michael Jordan for having guys like Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman to help him capture 6 championships.

Michael Jordan may not be undisputed ‘GOAT’ when it comes to basketball as there are several LeBron James and even Kareem Abdul-Jabbar truthers out there; however, he’s pretty darn close to being considered it on a global scale. Everything from going 6-0 in the NBA Finals, never needing a Game 7 on that stage, and simply having a complete resume contributes to this overarching belief.

In his 6 campaigns to the promiseland, Michael Jordan had merely one All-Star teammate: Scottie Pippen. Many claim that this is one of the biggest reasons as to why he’s the greatest to have ever laced up in the NBA. Others bring up the fact that he played with players who didn’t receive a ton of recognition but should’ve on the level of Pippen.

In all fairness, Dennis Rodman is perhaps the greatest rebounder of all-time, Toni Kukoc is an all-timer in terms of international players, Steve Kerr has the best 3-point percentage in NBA history at 45%, and so on. Charles Barkley used this notion against him on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have a hilarious back-and-forth on Oprah.

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have been close friends for nearly 4 decades now; meeting in 1984 at Olympic trials set course for a friendship that would extend well off the court. The two would play golf together, hang out in similar circles, and of course, appear together on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

This 24 minute long segment with the Bulls and Suns legends would produce many gems and one of them would be Barkley calling out the 5x MVP on having much more talent than he did, resulting in the inordinate amount of success he achieved. This stemmed from Michael Jordan pleading his case for why riding motorcycles isn’t bad and that Chuck wouldn’t get it because he’s not a winner.

Funnily enough, Charles Barkley actually played with Scottie Pippen for half a season when they both teamed up with Hakeem Olajuwon on the Houston Rockets. Barkley also played with guys like Clyde Drexler, Dan Majerle, Danny Ainge, Kevin Johnson, and so. It’s safe to say that Barkley didn’t play with scrubs during his heyday.
