Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans are still reeling in 12th place in the Western conference, despite a 2 game winning streak.

Davis has been putting up strong performances in the last few games and has been the sole shining light of Pelicans’ 2018-19 campaign.

However, things could go further south for the Pelicans, if Davis decides to move on before the trade deadline, with the Lakers appearing to be his most favoured destination.

During the Pelicans’ visit to the Staples centre, LeBron took Davis out for a dinner in a bid to recruit him to the franchise and start developing the dynasty that the Lakers are so desperately after.

Reports all through the season have stated that Davis could move away from the Pelicans, if he feels that a playoff spot is out of reach, a picture that should be fairly clear before the trade deadline.

Now, Davis has a very important decision to make and has spoken to the Athletic about it.

“That other stuff doesn’t matter to me,” Davis spoke about the speculation about his future.

“The only thing that matters to me is this team right here, and all I can do to help this team win and what we can do as a team to get more wins. The other stuff is for guys outside the team, and media, whoever wants to look at it. For me, it’s about this team and what we can do to win.” he added.

Davis has spoken about how he is approaching the current situation, especially with the mess that the Pelicans are presently in.

Davis is focussed on taking things day by day for the time being at least and seems like he is focussed on at least staying on for this season.

Davis could then reject a super max contract at Pelicans if he decides to move to the Lakers or even the Celtics.

“I don’t care what other people think. For me, it’s always about in the moment,” Davis said.

“If you try to think too far ahead, you get caught, you get lost from what is going on in the moment.

“For me it’s always about tonight’s game, today’s shootaround, how can I be better in the moment instead of trying to plan too far ahead or look too far ahead, because you lose sight of the moment.

“I think that’s what people get caught up in, just not being able to stay in the moment and cherish the moment and figure out what you can do right now to help your team.” he added.

Pelicans should in all probablity miss out on a playoff berth, unless of course Anthony Davis erupts in the next month, helping them climb the ladder in the Western Conference.

Do you think he will move to the Lakers before this trade deadline?
