Neymar's return to Barcelona

Neymar’s return to Barcelona: The Brazilian forward has long been linked with a return to the Catalan side.

Barcelona are currently first in the La Liga table. The side has had issues with consistency in the league, but stand five points clear of the second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Eric Abidal, the technical director at the Catalan club, hinted earlier in December that a signing in the January transfer window is highly unlikely, but that hasn’t stopped the media outlets from linking the football’s heavyweights with a move to the club.

Neymar has been speculated for a sensational return to the club ever since the summer transfer window, and the rumours have only grown stronger in January.

It was recently reported by Spanish outlet El Mundo that Neymar wants a return to Barcelona ‘desperately,’ and that the representatives of the player have met Barcelona. However, his father didn’t take the report too kindly and offered a brutal response on his Instagram.

Neymar’s return to Barcelona:

Neymar’s father took to social media platform Instagram to give a fitting reply to the story linking Neymar with a ‘desperate’ move to Barcelona.

He posted a screenshot of the news report, with the warning of ‘Fake News’ emblazoned all over it. He also wrote, “Fake news from Fake news” in the caption of the picture.

Barcelona’s sporting director Pep Segura, meanwhile, has refused to deny the reports claiming Barcelona’s interest in Neymar, but stated that the player is not in the transfer market at the moment.

“All players who are in the market are likely to come if they fit our needs,” Segura told La Vanguardia in an interview about the ongoing transfer window.

“Today, Neymar is not in the market.”

Segura also insisted that the club would’ve ‘considered’ a possibility to bring Neymar back to Barcelona if he was in the market.

“If one day there is a possibility, does anyone believe that a club like Barca does not have to consider it?

“In the case of Neymar and anyone, we must give our partners the best.”
