Jordan Love has made headlines for all the wrong reasons after being drafted. Love didn’t do anything wrong, but the circumstances of his pick has caused trouble.

Right before the 2021 NFL Draft, we were hit with the jaw-dropping news that Aaron Rodgers wanted out of Green Bay. The long-time Packers QB and Pro Bowler was reported to be frustrated after years of not winning, and it had all come to a head.
One of the biggest reasons Rodgers was frustrated by the Packers was because the organization hardly seemed to have his back. As you’ve heard a lot by now, the Packers haven’t drafted a WR or TE in the first round during Rodgers’ time as a starter.
In that time, Rodgers has made the big game only once. That lone Super Bowl win has kept him around, but Rodgers wants more. Rumors broke out of a massive trade package the 49ers offered, and things got more insane.
There were also reports that Rodgers referred to GM Brian Gutekunst as Jerry Krause (the evil guy in the Jordan documentary, I’m sure you remember him).
One of the biggest grudges Rodgers seem to hold is the fact that the Packers drafted QB Jordan Love last year…in the first round. However, it doesn’t look like Love is ready to take over just yet.
Will Jordan Love Start For The Green Bay Packers In The 2021-22 NFL Season?
The Packers have a lot on their plate right now. If Rodgers remains persistent on being traded, Green Bay may have no options left. On the other hand, Rodgers may also just retire.
If the Packers do deal Rodgers, will they be getting back a starting caliber quarterback? And, if not, then does Jordan Love make his debut? There’s a lot to answer, but we can look at how Jordan Love might fare in the NFL world.
Love played three years at Utah State. He didn’t wow or blow anyone away, but he still put up very decent stats/ His best year was definitely his second one. In that year, he threw for 3,567 yards with 32 touchdowns and only 6 picks.
However, the next year he would drop in almost every category, as he threw for 20 touchdowns and 17 picks to go along with 3,402 yards.
Love does show promise as a top tier athlete, but there is still so much left for him. He didn’t even have the benefit of an offseason last year. His biggest vice may be the fact that he struggles to throw under pressure. He only registered a 49.4 passing grade when throwing under pressure in Utah.
However, he does have the benefit of Rodgers. He gets to learn under one of the game’s best, just like Rodgers did behind Favre. There’s value to that. Immense value. However, he also does need to get some reps. He’ll surely play in the pre-season this year, but he needs more.
GM Gutekunst had the following to say:
“He’s got a long way to go. But we’re ecstatic for his development. … Obviously we think the world of Jordan and where he’s going to grow and develop.”
However, if the Packers don’t get a decent QB back in a potential trade or Rodgers doesn’t play, Love may need to develop faster than Green Bay would like.
