Solskjaer prefers Rashford to Lukaku

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a huge call as they prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said Romelu Lukaku that Marcus Rashford is going to be his first choice preference to lead the frontline, according to Daily Star. It is also believed that the Belgian has been told in the warm training setup at Dubai where the Red Devils have trained for the past few days.

The Norwegian will be facing a selection headache as the United boss for the first time since his arrival. However, he has made up his mind that the young English International would be leading the line despite the former Everton striker finding the back of the net every occasion he has taken up the field under the new interim manager.

In a recent interview, the Belgian International said that Solskjaer’s philosophy to take the game to opponents half and attack the ball is suiting him more than Jose Mourinho’s defensive play.

“He helps us a lot,” Lukaku said of Solskjaer.

“In training when we do the finishing, he helps us a lot – how to strike the ball, how to move away from the ball.

“And the way how he wants us to play really benefits me because he wants me to be in a position where I want to be, so he understands what type of striker you are and he just plays to your strengths.

“Through the middle, just facing the goal at all times and he knows that I am dangerous in that manner but also helping the team off the ball and stuff like that.

“He asks me a lot and I try to pay off (that work) with goals.”

Romelu Lukaku moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2017 for a fee of 75 million pounds which made him the second most expensive buy in club’s history behind Paul Pogba.

The Belgian International has scored 36 goals and found his teammates eleven times after taking up the field 76 times for the Red Devils. However, he might find himself in the pecking order behind Marcus Rashford.

In terms of pace, clinical nature in front of goal, and trickery it is no doubt that the striker from the academy leads him over the Belgian. On the other hand, the 25-year-old gives a totally different dimension with his strong physique and has the striker instinct.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face a stern test for the first time as the Manchester United manager when his side goes away to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
