Petr Cech transfer news

Petr Cech transfer news: The former Czech Republic international has been linked with a move away due to lack of game time.

Last week, Unai Emery failed to confirm if Petr Cech has a future at Arsenal. Cech has made only seven Premier League appearances so far, with the last game dating back to September.

Even when he played in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Tottenham Hotspur last month, Cech has largely been a second-choice goalkeeper since the emergence of Bernd Leno.

“He started this season very well, very good behaviour, commitment and also performance. And then when he had his injuries, he recovered his position on the bench,” Unai Emery said about Cech after the win against Blackpool.

English media outlet Evening Standard talked to Petr Cech to discuss his future at the club, where he talked about his plans in the transfer window.

The goalkeeper stated that he prefers to stay at Arsenal. However, he, like Emery, insisted that nothing is concrete at the moment.

“I would like to stay but we are in January,” he said, as quoted by Standard Sport.

“The season is long so you never know what will happen. I don’t feel stressed or pressed about when we sit and when we talk.”

He also revealed that there are no offers on the table at the moment, but didn’t deny the possibility of a move after the end of the transfer window.

“I just do my job and in the end we can easily sit and discuss it, so we will see. I haven’t [had an offer yet] and after the transfer window we will talk and see where we are,” Cech said.

On his current situation at Arsenal, Cech admitted that Bernd Leno seized the opportunity after his injury in September.

“I don’t want to feel sorry for myself because I have to be waiting for my opportunity to play in the League again after getting injured.

“If he keeps his place, then you have to sit and wait. I keep working every day, I am ready for every game and if the manager decides to play me then I am ready to show him I can.”
