MS Dhoni’s back injury will be a major worry for CSK over the next few days, as the everyone inside the Chennai camp will be holding their breath over their skipper’s health.

Dhoni showed us all why he is still one of the best T20 batsmen in world cricket, as the legendary wicket-keeper played a stunning knock to almost drag CSK to victory.

Mahi’s brilliant knock sent social media into meltdown, as the great man played a vintage innings that brought back some incredible memories.

Some people thought back to Dhoni’s epic innings against the same opposition in 2010, as Dhoni stunned KXIP with a last over finish. Unfortunately for him, he could not repeat that feat, as CSK fell short by 4 runs.

But with his back in a bad state right now, CSK will look at resting him for the next match, as he will be of enormous importance in the latter stages of the tournament.

Sam Billings will take over the gloves for CSK, which could open up a few interesting options for the Chennai side.

Faf du Plessis

The South African captain could return to the CSK side for the next match, as the gifted right hander can come in at either number three, or could even fill in one of the opening slots.

The South African though is recovering from a thumb injury and we’ll have to wait and see if he is fit enough to take the field.

Imran Tahir could then make way for Karn Sharma, owing to the overseas player limit.

David Willey

The versatile Englishman can play in a number of different positions, making him very valuable to the CSK side.

Willey could open the innings, but will mostly come down the order to play the role of a finisher for the CSK side. If Dhoni does not play, then Willey can come at number five or six, and start tonking the ball around in the final few overs.

Tahir will then be dropped and Karn Sharma brought in his place.

Dhruv Shorey

Promising batsman, Dhruv Shorey has a good chance of getting into the CSK lineup. Stephen Fleming is excited by Shorey, as the CSK coach believes Shorey can do a really good job for the side.

A slot at number five could be open, but since he is a top order player, Shorey could get a shot at number three. In case Raina also misses out on CSK’s next game, then Shorey could get his chance at three, with Rayudu coming after him at four.
