According to multiple reports emanating from France and Germany, PSG have already initiated contact with Pochettino over a prospective move. French based RMC Sport have claimed that Pochettino could find himself in the role as early as January 6.

Previous Juventus manager, Maximiliano Allegiri is also said to be on PSG’s wish list if things don’t materialise with Pochettino. Pochettino was previously in charge of Tottenham with the club deciding to let him go in 2019 after a slew of appalling displays.

PSG Part Ways With Tuchel

The reports come ensuing PSG’s decision to relieve Thomas Tuchel of his duties at the club. Despite routing Strasbourg 4-0 on Wednesday, the Ligue 1 side failed to repose faith in the German manager with PSG finding themselves in third place in the league after having lost 4 of their 11 matches this season.

However, its widely believed that Tuchel’s recent comments on the club and his role are what prompted PSG to run out of patience. Despite taking PSG to the Champions League final earlier this year, the writing was on the wall for Tuchel after he publicly hit out at the club.

Prior to the Strasbourg fixture, Tuchel had said he felt more like “a sports politician or sports minister than a coach”.

After the win, he clarified: “I didn’t say it’s more about politics than sport, nor that I lost the fun of training. This is not true. It is possible they translated incorrectly.

“Watch the video interview. I just said that PSG are unique and that it’s a big challenge for me. It’s always been like that.

“I gave a video interview to a journalist who told me to do a story about German coaches.

“It is not an interview for him. It is not allowed. I was making a joke in German. The translation is not correct. We cannot translate word for word.

“It was a joke while we were talking and it is not allowed.”

Tuchel leaves PSG with an illustrious record. He won 95 of the matches out of the 127 he was at the helm for with his stay at the club seeing him usher in six trophies for PSG.
